History

Enable Health Society was formerly registered with the Registrar of Society, Delhi in 2004 in the name of EngenderHealth Society through a name license agreement from EngenderHealth New York and continued to function with this affiliation till March 2010. Upon request from EngenderHealth and a no objection from them, the society changed its name to Enable Health Society and continued its function as the Society. The Registrar of Society vide certificate dated September 8, 2004, had acknowledged the name change and issued the certificate accordingly. EHS holds immense respect for the EngenderHealthInc. and its mandate and legacy, but we are an independent national non-government organization and are not their affiliate anymore.

The Society as part of its name change assumed ‘Enable’ with its meaning ‘To supply with the means, knowledge, or opportunity; make able’ as a reference to its primary work which has been in the area of HIV and AIDS. With the approval of the board the logo was finalized – The official graphic depiction of the name includes both the name and the logo. There is also a tagline, “Building Capacity for Quality”. The tagline is a descriptor of what the Society does: it is action-oriented, forward-thinking, and right based. The colors chosen were Blue for Peace & Tranquility and Yellow for Hope & Happiness. The visual logo denotes that the society is committed to imparting knowledge for creating a happy, peaceful environment that is full of hope. The sun rays placed above the word Health in the logo represent the dispersion of knowledge, spreading light to improve health.
